It’s Throwback Thursday when we look back at some of our past projects. This week it is one of our favourite office refurbishment schemes.

41-53 Goswell Road, London, was a CAT A office refurbishment project we completed five years ago, working alongside TFT for Lancashire County Council and Knight Frank Investment Management.

The property is situated in the heart of Clerkenwell and is just a few minutes’ walk to the iconic Barbican Centre with Angel and Farringdon underground stations nearby.

The project brief was to undertake the CAT A Refurbishment to the Lower Ground, Ground and First Floor Levels, enabling the client to showcase the floors when marketing the office space.

The design team created a modern and urban feel giving each floor an industrial solid warehouse look, which worked exceptionally well. Lead-based paint was stripped from the brickwork walls and concrete columns by a specialist contractor, and the surface-mounted electrical and mechanical services reinforced the utilitarian look.

The project was challenging due to the building being mixed-use and partly occupied. We had to ensure minimal disruption to the tenants and have robust health and safety procedures to protect the building occupants. The works were carried out successfully and to a very high standard due to the proactive and professional approach of our site team and sub-contractors.

The project was completed on time within 16 weeks and within the budget of £740K.
